Following the fall of the Final Empire, the Pits were destroyed when Vin shattered the atium geodes, ending the Lord Ruler's control over the atium supply. The Kandra do not use the Pits as a hub; their central hub is the Conventical of Seran, where they maintain their species' continuity and manage relations with human governments.

Background
The creation of the Kandra is not linked to the Pits of Hathsin. Centuries ago, the Lord Ruler utilized the power of the Well of Ascension at the Conventical of Seran to transform humans into the shapeshifting servants known as Kandra. The Pits of Hathsin were instead a prison and atium mining site, where skaa were forced to extract atium geodes.
