Abas (mythology)

Multiple figures in Greek myth share the name Abas.

Abas is a name borne by numerous figures in Greek mythology, including kings, seers, warriors, and a boy transformed into a lizard. The most prominent is Abas, king of Argos. A different Abas, son of Metaneira, was changed into a lizard by Demeter for mocking her. Other individuals named Abas appear as a companion of Perseus, a centaur, defenders of Thebes and Troy, a servant of King Lycomedes, and a companion of Diomedes turned into a swan by Aphrodite.
