Lore & Background

Founded on January 30, 1960, and originally based in Oakland, California, the Raiders played their first regular season game on September 11, 1960, as a charter member of the AFL. They moved to the NFL with the AFL–NFL merger in 1970. The team was almost named the 'Señors' when established. They played in Los Angeles from 1982 through 1994 before returning to Oakland in 1995. On March 27, 2017, NFL owners approved the move to Las Vegas; the team played its last California game on December 29, 2019, and relocated to the Las Vegas area on January 22, 2020.
