Jurassic World Dominion (2022)

Lore & Background

A central mystery involves swarms of giant locusts devastating crops, which trace back to genetic engineering by the genomics corporation Biosyn. This threat reunites paleontologist Alan Grant and Ellie Sattler, who work with Ian Malcolm to expose the conspiracy. Meanwhile Owen Grady and Claire Dearing set out to rescue Maisie Lockwood, whose DNA Henry Wu believes is key to halting the locust outbreak.

Reader's Guide

The story is set four years after the events of Fallen Kingdom, with dinosaurs now living alongside humans around the world. At their remote cabin in the Sierra Nevada mountains, Claire and Owen secretly raise 14-year-old Maisie Lockwood, until mercenaries kidnap her and Beta, the hatchling of the Velociraptor Blue. Meanwhile, swarms of giant locusts are devastating U.S. crops; Ellie Sattler observes that crops grown with Biosyn seeds are left uneaten and takes a locust to Alan Grant.

Claire and Owen follow the mercenaries to Malta and are flown by cargo pilot Kayla Watts to the Biosyn facility in Italy's Dolomites, where Ian Malcolm now works. Lewis Dodgson attempts to incinerate the locusts to destroy evidence, which sparks a wildfire around the preserve, and he is killed by a trio of Dilophosaurus. The survivors escape by helicopter; Ellie, Alan, Ian and Ramsay Cole testify against Biosyn, and Wu releases a host locust carrying the pathogen that gradually eradicates the swarms.
