Satipo
The traitorous guide who abandons Indy at the pit in the opening of Raiders of the Lost Ark.
Satipo, played by Alfred Molina in his film debut, is Indiana Jones's traitorous guide in the opening sequence of Raiders of the Lost Ark. He accompanies Indy into the temple where the fertility idol is kept. His name is based on that of a Peruvian town, Satipo in Satipo Province in Junín Region.

When Indy and Satipo reach a pit on the way out of the temple, Satipo makes it over with Indy's whip, leaving Indy stuck on the other side. Indy throws the fertility idol over to Satipo, who has offered to throw him the whip in exchange, but Satipo betrays him, dropping the whip and fleeing. In an early script by Lawrence Kasdan, Satipo flees the boulder with Indy and is then killed by the Hovito tribe, but that script was scrapped.

Satipo appears only in the opening sequence of Raiders of the Lost Ark, as the guide who betrays Indy for the fertility idol. Alfred Molina's likeness was used for Satipo in the 2024 video game Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, where the role was performed by Joe Hernandez-Kolski.
