Lore & Background
The series initially framed each episode with an elderly Indiana Jones, 93 to 94 years old and played by George Hall, introducing a story from his youth. These flashbacks reveal that his father, Professor Henry Jones Sr., instilled in him a deep love for history and travel, though their relationship was often strained by the elder's academic rigidity. Young Indy meets historical figures across continents, among them Theodore Roosevelt. Unlike the films which focus on specific artifacts, this series emphasizes the historical events of the era. Indy fights in World War I as a 16- to 17-year-old soldier in the Belgian Army and then serves as an intelligence officer and spy seconded to French intelligence.
Reader's Guide
