Lore & Background

Born Henry Walton Jones III to Indiana Jones and Marion Ravenwood, Mutt believed that his British stepfather, Royal Air Force pilot Colin Williams, was his biological father. He travelled extensively with his mother, never graduated from school, and worked as a motorcycle mechanic before meeting Indy. His life takes a dramatic turn when he approaches Jones for help, telling him that Harold Oxley had found a crystal skull in Peru; his mother and Ox have gone missing there.

In the jungle, Marion reveals that Mutt is Indy's son. The revelation creates tension: Indiana is furious that his son is a dropout, and Mutt hates being called "Son". However, their shared danger in the Peruvian jungle forces them to rely on one another. Through a series of harrowing encounters involving Soviet agents, ancient traps, and supernatural phenomena centered around the Crystal Skull of Akator, Mutt matures significantly.
