The 73–9 Warriors set the NBA regular-season wins record but lost the 2016 Finals after leading 3–1.
The Golden State Warriors finished the 2015–16 regular season with a 73–9 record, breaking the NBA record set by the 1995–96 Chicago Bulls. They also set records for most road wins (34), best start to a season (24–0), and longest regular-season home win streak (54, dating back to the 2014–15 season). They became the first team to make over 1,000 three-pointers in a regular season, with 1,077.

In the 2016 NBA Finals, the Warriors won three of the first four games and led 3–1 before the Cleveland Cavaliers won three straight games to clinch the title. The Warriors lost Game 5 at home, Game 6 on the road, and Game 7 at home. This was the first time a team overcame a 3–1 series deficit in the NBA Finals.
