Narayan Gopal Gurubacharya (4 October 1939 – 5 December 1990) was a Nepali singer and composer, widely regarded as a major cultural icon in Nepal. He is known by the honorific 'Swar Samrat' (Emperor of Voice) and sang in Nepali and Nepal Bhasa. His vocal range allowed him to perform across all Nepalese genres, and his songs were often accompanied by sitar, harmonium, and flute.

Narayan Gopal was born on 18 Ashoj 1996 B.S. in Kilagal Tole, Kathmandu, into a traditional Newar family. He completed his School Leaving Certificate in 2016 B.S. and earned a Bachelor of Arts from Tri-Chandra College. He studied Indian classical music at Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda but returned to Nepal without finishing. He married Pemala Lama in 1971. He worked at Rashtriya Naach Ghar, rising to manager, edited the musical journal Bageena for its first three issues, served as managing director of Sanskritik Sansthan, adviser to the Ministry of Communication, and visiting instructor at Lalit Kala Campus. He composed the music for a musical drama titled Kanchi Masyang.
