Plot

After discovering Spider-Man's true identity and how he gained his powers, Norman Osborn attempts to recreate the process on himself using his Oz Formula, turning into the Green Goblin. He then uses the formula on Kingpin's men to create a goblin army. Spider-Man must stop the Goblin's plans before he takes over New York City. Spider-Man ultimately thwarts the Goblin, who is incarcerated by The Ultimates.

Gameplay

Peter Parker as Spider-Man is the protagonist, with gameplay nearly identical to its predecessor: rescuing civilians, fighting thugs, and in the Nintendo DS version, participating in three touch screen mini-games: the stroke game, the web draw, and the arm/disarm games. Norman Osborn as the Green Goblin is the main antagonist and a playable character, controlled only with the d-pad and face buttons, with gameplay involving destroying objects and fighting security guards and S.H.I.E.L.D. agents; the Goblin does not take part in touch screen mini-games. Exclusive to the DS version, both characters have access to four special moves on the bottom screen; landing hits fills a special meter that allows use of one of the four moves. The Threat Assessment Meter (TAM) points the player to the next objective and shows time remaining; if the meter runs out before the problem is solved, the player receives a game over.
