Gameplay

Konami Krazy Racers plays similarly to other kart racing games. Each race begins at the starting line with eight racers lined up in certain positions; the player character always starts a circuit in eighth place, though placement in subsequent races depends on the previous race's results. The race is viewed from behind the player and uses Mode 7-style scaling to simulate three dimensions. A timer counts down to the start, and the player must hold a button to accelerate. Coins can be collected off the track and spent on items in a shop. Depending on the character, the player may cause another racer to spin out. Buttons allow jumping and braking for maneuverability. Red and blue bells are placed throughout the tracks: red bells contain various items, while blue bells contain a speed-boosting item. The game features 12 characters from various Konami series, each with unique statistics for weight, speed, and acceleration.

Reception

Metacritic's aggregated reviews for Konami Krazy Racers were generally favorable. NextGen's positive take was tempered by noting it fell short of the upcoming Mario Kart: Super Circuit. Famitsu's Japanese review scored it 25 out of 40. GamePro's Four-Eyed Dragon called it the only serious kart racing option available at the time. Electronic Gaming Monthly placed it tenth on its list of top Game Boy Advance games, ahead of Mario Kart: Super Circuit.
