Gameplay
Players compete in races, rallies, trick competitions, and time trials. Six characters are available: Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy, Goofy, and Pete. Steering uses the L and R buttons, while tricks are performed with the control pad on ramps, filling a trick meter. When a trick card appears onscreen, performing that trick collects the card. Winning a race unlocks a new snowboard; over 30 boards exist, each affecting speed, handling, tricks, and magic powers. A full trick gauge allows magic effects such as speed boosts, earthquake, or lightning that hinder opponents. Players can race or exchange boards via the Game Link Cable, and connecting to a GameCube with Disney Sports Soccer unlocks an additional board and ability.
Reception
The game received mixed reviews according to Metacritic. In Japan, Famitsu scored it 22 out of 40. Visual reception was divided: Brad Kane of Extended Play noted colorful imagery and creative levels but felt graphics could be smoother. Craig Harris of IGN found the pre-rendered graphics interacted poorly with character sprites, making courses look nearly identical. Gameplay and controls drew mixed assessments. Andy Dursin of Nintendo World Report praised the solid assortment of modes, unlockables, and multiplayer, calling it a well-rounded package though straightforward and less complicated than earlier Disney Sports entries. Kane enjoyed the gameplay and highlighted the collectibles. David Hodgson of GameSpy described the game as not much fun, citing tedious trick and board collecting, slow and imprecise gameplay, and quickly completed tracks. Harris saw little variety in courses beyond item collection.
