Ogion is the powerful mage who takes the boy Duny as his apprentice after hearing how he hid his village from Kargish raiders with a fog, and who reveals the boy's true name, Ged.
Lore & Background
Ogion tries to teach Ged about the equilibrium, the idea that magic used improperly can upset the natural order of the world. When Ged, trying to impress a girl, searches Ogion's spell books and summons a strange shadow, Ogion banishes it. Sensing the boy's impatience with his slow teaching, he offers him the chance to go to the school for wizards on Roke; Ged loves Ogion but chooses the school.
