Roke
The island of the school for wizards.
Roke is the island of Earthsea's renowned school for wizards. Magic in Earthsea is an inborn talent refined by training; the most gifted are sent there, and if their skill and discipline prove sufficient they become staff-carrying wizards.
Lore & Background
In A Wizard of Earthsea Ged chooses the school over staying with Ogion; there he clashes with Jasper and is befriended by the older student Vetch. As Archmage he leaves Roke with Arren in The Farthest Shore, and in The Other Wind the masters of the school, including the Master Patterner, advise Alder.
