Therru

Therru is a young child (around 6-9 years old) who was abused and abandoned by her birth parents until Tenar took her in. She was rescued from the slaver Hare by Prince Arren, though she initially viewed him warily because of his strangeness and coldness. Later, after being tied to a post, she is freed by Tenar and others, and finds Arren when he is guilty and hopeless. Arren reveals his true name, Lebannen, to Tenar and Ged in her presence, but not directly to her. She reveals her true name, Tehanu, only to Tenar; Ged later learns it from Tenar. When the warlock Cob attempts to harm her with magic, she transforms into a dragon and survives, and Cob is killed by the dragon Kalessin—though Therru's transformation is integral to the confrontation.
