The Nameless Ones are the powers worshipped at the Tombs of Atuan in the Kargish empire. Tenar is taken as a child to be their high priestess and is consecrated to them at six as Arha, the "Eaten One".

Thar and Kossil, the elderly priestesses who train her, serve the two other major deities of the Tombs. After meeting Ged, Tenar begins to question her faith in the Nameless Ones and her place at the Tombs.
