Beowulf
The Lightbeast, a half-blinded gatekeeper of Temen-ni-gru whose power becomes a Devil Arm.
Beowulf, also called the Lightbeast, is one of the gatekeepers of Temen-ni-gru in Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening, a huge chimera-like demon with a lion's head and torso, talons, four wings and a scorpion tail. Sparda half-blinded him and sealed him away for two thousand years, and Beowulf swore to destroy every blood relation of the traitor. Dante fights him and spares him, fully blinding him in the process; Beowulf then attacks Vergil, mistaking him for Dante, and is killed when Vergil splits his head with the Yamato. His power becomes a Devil Arm used by Vergil and later by Dante.

Background
Beowulf is cruel and vindictive, promising to annihilate Sparda's bloodline for his betrayal of demonkind, and impulsive enough to attack Vergil by scent without confirming who he was; his last words curse Sparda for having two sons. In the fight he opens with a two-punch combo and a ground slam, stomps when the player is close, and flails when struck in the eye, growing more feral in his second phase. The demon's moveset closely resembles Dante's attacks with the Beowulf Devil Arm equipped.
