Last updated
Classic Warner Bros. cartoon shorts and new animated bridging sequences featuring Daffy Duck are combined in the 1988 compilation film Daffy Duck's Quackbusters.[1] Warner Bros. handled the theatrical distribution of this film.[1]
Making and release
The animators for the new sequences included Brenda Banks, Nancy Beiman, Dan Haskett, Mark Kausler, Norman McCabe, Rebecca Rees, Darrell Van Citters and Frans Vischer.[2] A DVD release in the United States followed on August 4, 2009, by Warner Home Video.[3] A VHS version of the film came out on July 19, 1989, a date that fell nine days after Mel Blanc passed away.[3] In the UK, the film became available on July 5, 2021, featuring the identical set of additional shorts.[3]
iTunes offers the film for purchase or rental.[3] January 28, 2025, marked the Blu-ray debut of the film through the Warner Archive Collection.[3]
What the cited sources add
The blu-ray.com review notes that the 1080p transfer was sourced from a newer 2K scan of a recent-vintage interpositive.[4] The review states the theatrical audio mix is apparently mono.[4] The Blu-ray release includes a "Matinee Version" playback option that begins with the original theatrical opening cartoon Night of the Living Duck.[4] The review describes the film's new jokes as landing occasionally and the way several shorts tie together as decently creative.[4]
Greg Ford and Terry Lennon directed the short Night of the Living Duck, which was produced specifically for this film.[4]
