Lore & Background

A rift opens over Manhattan and Ben arrives through it as Humungousaur. Rex takes him for an E.V.O. and tries to cure him while they fight across New York. A metallic creature comes through as well; when Agent Six catches it, it self-destructs and leaves him in a coma. Rex's brother Caesar explains that the creature, Alpha, was his own invention for producing adaptable nanites, which became sentient and which he banished to another dimension. Ben works out that this was the Null Void, where Alpha found a body in a cyborg alien.

Reader's Guide

Alpha goes to the Bug Jar, a quarantined city of E.V.O.s, to absorb their nanites, and wants Rex's Omega Nanite above all. In the battle it copies the Ultimatrix and takes nanite versions of Heatblast, Four Arms and Humungousaur; Ben gains the form Shocksquatch. Alpha seizes the Omega Nanite and becomes the colossal Alpha-Omega. Ben turns into Upgrade and merges with Rex to enhance his machines, and together they weaken Alpha enough for Rex to compress it into a dense sphere. Caesar recovers the Omega Nanite and opens a rift home for Ben, who swallows the sphere as Upchuck and takes it back to the Null Void.
