Pre-1997
A missile launch facility called Fortress Intolerance was constructed by the nation, capable of targeting the Union of Yuktobanian Republics.[2] Plans to retire Fortress Intolerance were put on hold until after the expected Ulysses impact in 1999, influenced by the Federation of Central Usea backing a National Missile Defense system.[2]
Usean coup and Ulysses planetfall (1997–1999)
When the Ulysses asteroid struck on July 3, 1999, North Point was outside Stonehenge's effective range, and the closest known impact was on Newfield Island.[3] During the 1997–1998 coup on the continent, insurgents seized Fortress Intolerance and tried to fire an ICBM at Yuktobania, but Scarface Squadron eliminated the site and halted the uprising.[3]
Continental War (2003–2005)
After Erusea's invasion in 2003, North Point joined other nations to form the ISAF and became its new general headquarters after the mainland was abandoned.[4] ISAF used North Point to regroup, set up defenses, and coordinate long-range strikes and strategic missions from mid-2004 to early 2005.[4]
Post-war
North Point remained mostly neutral during the Lighthouse War, and in January 2020, Osea and Erusea signed a mutual nonaggression pact there.[5]
Trivia
The easternmost tip of North Point is crossed by the prime meridian.[6]
