Stonehenge (Strangereal)

It was built at the end of the 20th century to destroy fragments of the Ulysses 1994XF04 asteroid.[1] Erusea captured Stonehenge in 2003 and used it as an anti-aircraft weapon against the Independent State Allied Forces (ISAF) during the Continental War.[1][2] After that single shot, the railgun broke down due to lack of proper cooling, rendering the entire facility inoperable.[1][3] During Operation Stone Crusher on April 2, 2005, Mobius 1, an ISAF ace, eliminated the seven functioning railguns.[1][4]

The Osean Ground Defense Force brought the previously non-functional fourth railgun back into service in 2019, employing it to eliminate the Erusean Arsenal Bird Liberty.[1][3]

Design

The hybrid system uses gunpowder for initial propulsion and electromagnetic energy for acceleration, achieving a projectile velocity of six kilometers per second.[5] Stonehenge's firing range covers a radius of 1,200 kilometers, and its control network consists of 8,192 supercomputers capable of 100 trillion operations per second.[5]

Development

FCU President Robert Sinclair revealed the asteroid danger on April 20, 1996, which initiated construction; the primary site reached completion in June 1998.[6]

Ulysses Impact Event and takeover

During the Ulysses impact event in July 1999, Stonehenge limited damage but could not prevent over 500,000 civilian deaths, and railgun four was disabled by a meteorite.[2]
