History
Founded in 1965, the club played in the Ibaraki Prefecture University League until 1998. It was promoted to the Kantō University League Division 2 in 1999 but relegated after one season, then promoted again in 2002. In November 2004, following a recommendation from the Japan University Football Association, the club participated in the Regional League promotion series, finishing as runners-up and gaining acceptance into the Japan Football League. It became the third university club to play in the JFL, after Kokushikan University SC and Shizuoka Sangyo University SC. As of 2010, the JFA barred all university clubs from the Regional Promotion Series, but RKU remained in the JFL until its relegation that same season. In the 2022 season, the club finished bottom of the Kantō Soccer League Division 2 and was relegated to the Ibaraki Prefectural League from 2023.
