History

The club was founded in 2001 as Ryugasaki FC and began competing in the lower divisions of the Ibaraki Prefecture Leagues. Although established as an independent NPO, the team was primarily composed of student players from Ryutsu Keizai University and served as a farm team for the university side. In 2003, the club renamed itself Club Dragons. They earned promotion to the Kantō Soccer League Division 2 in 2005, won the championship that same year, and have competed in Kantō League Division 1 since 2006, aside from two relegations in 2010 and 2013, each lasting only one season. In 2014, the Dragons reached the Shakaijin Cup final and secured third place in the Regional League promotion series, earning promotion to the 2015 Japan Football League. The club then renamed itself Ryutsu Keizai Dragons Ryugasaki. They were relegated from the JFL in 2019, returning to the Japanese Regional Leagues in 2020. In 2023, after a 10th-place finish in Kanto Division 1, they were relegated to Division 2. They won the Division 2 championship in 2024 and returned to Division 1, but were relegated again after finishing ninth in the 2025 season.
