History

RBAC F.C. originated from Bangkok Metropolitan Administration F.C., which went bankrupt during the 1997 Asian financial crisis. Bangkok Metropolitan Administration F.C. had itself taken over from SET F.C. (Stock Exchange of Thailand) in similar circumstances in the early years of the Thailand Premier League. SET F.C. reached the championship final playoff match in 1997, losing 2–0 to Bangkok Bank, who claimed the inaugural Thailand Premier League title while SET F.C. became runner-up. For the 1997 season, the club played as Bangkok Metropolitan Administration F.C. and finished 7th. The following year they dropped to 11th, forcing a promotion/relegation playoff against Assumption Sriracha; that year they also won the 14th Yamaha Thailand Cup by beating Nakhon Si Thammarat in the final. In 1999 they improved to 9th, and in 2000 they finished 4th in what was their last season under that name, as financial difficulties led to their replacement by Rattana Bundit. The club is believed to have used the same badge under a different name with closer links to the university. In their first Premier League season as Rattana Bundit, they were relegated to the Thailand Division 1 League after managing only 18 points and 10 goals in 22 matches. In the 2010 Thai Division 1 League, Rattana finished 14th and faced relegation, but due to league expansion they retained their status by defeating Rayong F.C. 4–2 in a two-legged playoff.
