Last updated

"Caution" is a song by American rock band the Killers, released on March 12, 2020, as the lead single from their sixth studio album, Imploding the Mirage. The track features a guitar solo by former Fleetwood Mac guitarist Lindsey Buckingham. It reached number one on both the Billboard Rock Airplay and Alternative Airplay charts.

Background

He connected this theme to his own decision to leave Las Vegas with his family and return to his childhood home in Utah, a move that began as a hunch. Though leaving was difficult, Flowers felt he embodied the spirit of "Caution" by recognizing that the relocation was the right choice for himself and his family. The guitar solo at the song's end came about after drummer Ronnie Vannucci joked over dinner about calling Lindsey Buckingham to request a solo.

The band followed through, and Buckingham obliged, arriving at the studio the next day; the band shares a publicist with Buckingham. During recording, the band slowed the tape to half-speed or quarter-speed to capture Buckingham's crystal-like high tinkle sounds. Buckingham then stayed to record a solo, which became the song's ending, as the band had not yet written one. The cover artwork is "Golden Breeze" by American artist Thomas Blackshear.

An alternative stripped-back version titled "Caution (Wasatch Style)" appeared on the deluxe edition of Imploding the Mirage, released in January 2021.
