District 13

The district the Capitol claimed to have destroyed.

District 13 was supposedly destroyed in the failed rebellion known as the Dark Days, and the annual Hunger Games were created as punishment for that uprising. In fact its people survived underground after a standoff with the Capitol and rebuilt their strength. In Catching Fire, refugees hope to reach it, and Katniss is flown there after the Quarter Quell; in Mockingjay it is the headquarters of the rebellion, led by President Alma Coin.
