Poe Dameron is a fictional character introduced in the 2015 film The Force Awakens, portrayed by Oscar Isaac. Serving as an X-wing fighter pilot for the Resistance, he inadvertently brings the renegade stormtrooper Finn and scavenger Rey into battle against the First Order. Named after director J.J. Abrams's assistant Morgan Dameron, the character was originally envisioned as a black man in his 30s or 40s who might die early in the script before being rewritten to appear throughout the film. He is celebrated for his charisma and leadership, often compared to Han Solo from the original trilogy.
