Count Dooku, also known as Darth Tyranus, is a central figure in the Star Wars prequel trilogy and animated series. Portrayed by Christopher Lee in Attack of the Clones (2002) and Revenge of the Sith (2005), he serves as the head of the Confederacy of Independent Systems. A former Jedi Master trained by Yoda, Dooku turned to the dark side due to disillusionment with the corruption of the Galactic Senate and the Jedi Order's complicity. He acts as the apprentice to Darth Sidious, engineering the Clone Wars while secretly hoping to overthrow his master, a plan that ultimately ends in his betrayal and death at the hands of Anakin Skywalker.

Dooku's transformation began with his role as Count of Serenno, his home planet. After leaving the Jedi Order, he became the public face of the Separatist movement, arguing that the Republic was corrupt, overly bureaucratic, and neglectful of non-Core Worlds. He recruited bounty hunter Jango Fett to assassinate Senator Padmé Amidala and captured Obi-Wan Kenobi on Geonosis, revealing the existence of a Sith Lord named Darth Sidious controlling the Senate.

Throughout the Clone Wars, Dooku led the Confederacy while secretly engineering the creation of the Republic's Clone troopers for his master's benefit. He faced Jedi in numerous duels, notably defeating Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi on Geonosis by severing Anakin's arm and using Force lightning, though he was forced to flee when Yoda arrived. In Tales of the Jedi (2022), his fall is depicted through his friendship with Padawan Qui-Gon Jinn and his growing dissatisfaction with the Order.
