Salamandra is a Czech speed metal band that started in 1998 in Ostrava, founded by guitarist Pavel Slíva. Slíva put together the first lineup in October 1998 and prepared a debut album, *Twilight of Legends*, recorded at Citron studio with an automatic drummer. The initial members included vocalist Dalibor "Panther" Halamíček, guitarist Karel Řepecký, keyboardist Marek Lankočí, and bassist Aleš Klimša. After that album came out, drummer Dan "Baalberith" Jureček and bassist Jaroslav Dufek joined, replacing Klimša. The band then contributed a cover of "Judas" to a Helloween fanclub tribute CD. Their next album, *Skarremar*, appeared in 2000 and drew on medieval themes, ancient heroes, kings, and queens. Following tours through 2004, Salamandra released the melodic speed album *Great Moravian Elegies*. In 2005, a new lineup formed with vocalist Ivan Borovský and bassist Jaroslav "Pišta" Sedláček, and they recorded *Faces of Chimera* in 2007. The band continues to release music, with later albums including *Time to Change* (2010), *Imperatus* (2014), and *Opus Bohemica* (2022). Current members include vocalist Tomáš Hradil, guitarists Pavel Slíva and Pavel Novotný, keyboardist and vocalist Hanka Šlachtová, bassist Jaromir Dufek, and drummer Arek Tomaszewski.
