Aqua GT
Inshore powerboat racing through European rivers with tide and time settings.
Aqua GT is an inshore powerboat racing game created by East Point Software and brought to market by Take Two Interactive. It launched on the Dreamcast in 2000 and on the PlayStation the following year; a PC version was shown in PC Zone magazine but never actually came out.
Players choose from 20 boats and race through rivers in major European cities, such as the Thames and the Seine. Each track can be played in day or night conditions, and with either high or low tide, which changes the challenge. The game includes three modes: Championship, Arcade, and a split-screen Two-Player option.
Reviews were mixed. Steve Boxer of *The Daily Telegraph* gave the PlayStation version 4 out of 5, calling it "surprisingly addictive" and a "mindless but action-packed game." He praised the "great courses," a "sensible learning curve," and "seriously swift and responsive water-borne machines." In contrast, Philippa Norman of *Official Dreamcast Magazine* scored it 3 out of 10, finding it "very repetitive" with "no replay value." She argued that features like crash damage, open-water courses, or better graphics could have improved it. Alex Warren of *Dreamcast Magazine* was more positive, noting "enough challenge and enjoyment to make it grippingly compulsive and genuinely good fun," though he criticized the unrealistic water rendering and boat movement.

Reader's Guide
Aqua GT occupies a niche in late-era Dreamcast and early PlayStation 2-era racing games, focusing on inshore powerboat racing rather than the more common car or motorcycle genres. Its inclusion of day/night cycles and tidal variations added a layer of strategic difficulty. The game's mixed critical reception—ranging from a 4/5 to a 3/10—reflects a divide between those who found it addictive and those who saw it as repetitive. The unreleased PC version, previewed in PC Zone, remains a footnote. For collectors, the Dreamcast and PlayStation releases represent a brief collaboration between East Point Software and Take Two Interactive in the powerboat racing subgenre.
