Single-A Dodgers affiliate playing at ONT Field.
Last updated
Based in Ontario, California, the Ontario Tower Buzzers are a Single-A Minor League Baseball team. An affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers, they play in the California League and host their games at ONT Field, a new 6,000-seat ballpark. The team's first home game was played on April 2, 2026, against the Lake Elsinore Storm.
History
The franchise originated as the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes, the longtime Single-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers. The team relocated to the Ontario Ranch section of Ontario, California, and began play as the Ontario Tower Buzzers at ONT Field, a new 6,000-seat ballpark. The name and visual identity were unveiled at a launch event in Ontario Town Square in mid-September 2025.
This move was part of a three-team reshuffle: the Inland Empire 66ers moved to Rancho Cucamonga as the Quakes (affiliated with the Los Angeles Angels), and the Modesto Nuts relocated to San Bernardino as the 66ers (affiliated with the Seattle Mariners). Diamond Baseball Holdings owns all three clubs plus two others in the eight-team California League. Allan Benavides was named general manager.
Branding and mascot
The Tower Buzzers name and branding draw from Ontario's aviation heritage and proximity to Ontario International Airport, as well as the line "buzz the tower" from the 1986 film Top Gun. The primary mascot is a bee in aviator gear named Maverick. Uniform elements incorporate flight and air-traffic control motifs. The moniker was chosen to celebrate the region's airport buzz rather than imitate common aviation nicknames like Aviators or Pilots.
