Los Angeles Dodgers
The NL West giant that keeps blocking the Rockies' path to a division title.
The Los Angeles Dodgers, founded in Brooklyn in 1883 and in Los Angeles since 1958, are one of baseball's most successful clubs and the Rockies' NL West rivals since 1993. The Rockies' own history names them, with the Giants, as the division winners who have most often stood in Colorado's way.

Background
The Rockies have never won the NL West, while the Dodgers and Giants have taken 21 division titles between them since 1993. The race came closest in 2009, when the Rockies needed a three-game sweep of the Dodgers on the final weekend and won only the first game, and in 2018, when the two clubs finished level and Los Angeles won the tie-breaker, sending Colorado to the Wild Card Game. In 2017 the Rockies finished 17 games behind the Dodgers.
