Fresno Raisin Eaters
One-season PCL team that moved from Tacoma and returned to Sacramento.

The Fresno Raisin Eaters were a minor league baseball team that played in the Pacific Coast League for the 1906 season. The team was formed when owner Mike Fisher moved the Sacramento Solons franchise to Fresno after winning the PCL pennant as the Tacoma Tigers. Despite a large opening-day crowd of 2,500, the Raisin Eaters finished last in the six-team league with a 64-117 record and disbanded after one year, returning to Sacramento in 1909.
Background
The Fresno Raisin Eaters' home opener on an unknown date in 1906 drew 2,500 fans, considered large by the standards of the day. The Portland Beavers beat the Raisin Eaters 1-0. That game was the high-water mark of the season, as fan support eroded because of the team's poor play. The Raisin Eaters finished dead last in the six-team league with a record of 64-117 (.353).
After that one year, the franchise dropped out of the PCL, returned to Sacramento, and re-entered the League in 1909 as the Sacramento Solons once more. The Pacific Coast League would not return to Fresno for another 92 years, until the Fresno Grizzlies were admitted in 1998. During the 2006 season, the Grizzlies honored the 100th anniversary of their short-lived PCL predecessors by wearing Raisin Eaters jerseys on the field during each Wednesday home game.
