Gameplay
Fieldrunners 2 contains 25 levels across four zones with different backgrounds. At the start of each level, players select up to six weapon types and three consumable items. Three difficulty modes are available: casual, tough, and heroic. Players place towers on the map, earn cash by defeating enemies, and build more towers. The game ends when 20 enemies escape. Winning awards one star for casual, two for tough, or three for heroic mode. After passing a level, players may continue in endless mode. Coins are awarded based on performance regardless of winning or losing, and coins and stars can purchase more powerful towers. The game offers 25 weapon types and five item types, each with distinct range, effect, and weakness. Compared to its predecessor, Fieldrunners 2 triples the variety of towers and enemies. A path marker was added; enemies now change their route based on tower placement rather than marching straight. Most levels require surviving 60 or 70 waves with a 20-escape limit. Some maps involve guarding multiple routes, building mazes, Sudden Death levels with an endless parade of enemies for a set time, and puzzle maps that guide enemies through laser barriers.
Release
Fieldrunners 2 launched exclusively on iOS, then released for Windows on January 10, 2013. Subatomic Studios released an Android version on April 24, followed by a BlackBerry 10 version on August 29. A PlayStation Vita version was planned for 2013 but ultimately released in Europe on December 17, 2014.
