Collin Morikawa

Morikawa played collegiate golf at the University of California, Berkeley, from 2015 to 2019, winning five times, including the 2019 Pac-12 Conference Championship. He won the Western Junior, Trans-Mississippi Amateur, Sunnehanna Amateur and the Northeast Amateur. He played on the winning Arnold Palmer Cup team in 2017 and 2018, the winning Walker Cup team in 2017 and the Eisenhower Trophy team in 2018 that finished second by one stroke. He turned professional in 2019, making his debut at the RBC Canadian Open. His first PGA Tour win came at the Barracuda Championship in 2019. He won the 2020 PGA Championship in his second major start, and the 2021 Open Championship at Royal St George's, becoming the first player to win two different majors in his debut appearance. He also won the 2021 WGC-Workday Championship and the 2021 DP World Tour Championship, Dubai, to win the Race to Dubai. In 2023, he won the Zozo Championship, ending a 27-month winless drought. In February 2026, he won the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

The wind off the Atlantic was doing its worst at Winged Foot, whipping the flagstick into a nervous tremble. Morikawa stood over the putt, his eyes tracking the break with the patience of a man who had a thousand putts like this one in his memory. Patrick Newell said nothing — just a soft exhale, a hand resting on his shoulder. The ball rolled, wobbled, and dropped. Morikawa didn't smile. He simply nodded, lifted his cap, and walked to the next hole as if the world hadn't just stopped. Around him, the gallery roared. He heard it, perhaps, the way one hears the ocean from a lighthouse — distant, constant, irrelevant to the task at hand.

Morikawa is known for his precision iron play and clutch putting. He has a strong record in majors, with two wins in his first eight major starts.
