Annie Cordy was named PSG's official godmother in 1971, the same year she recorded the anthem 'Allez Paris'. While she was not involved in the club's founding in 1970—which resulted from a merger of Stade Saint-Germain and a group of investors (Paris FC was formed later that year after a split)—her role as godmother and her recording of the anthem made her an enduring symbol of the club's early identity.
