On 30 April 2020, Paris Saint-Germain were awarded the Ligue 1 championship based on PPG ratio following the early cancellation of the 2019–20 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. They subsequently won the Coupe de France, but the Coupe de la Ligue was not contested that season. Furthermore, the team then qualified for its first-ever Champions League final, hoping to win its first Champions League trophy. However, they were defeated by Bayern Munich 1–0.
