Lore & Background

Sanji has been blackmailed by his family, the Vinsmokes, into an arranged marriage with one of Big Mom's daughters. Luffy's group goes in with the Mink warriors Pedro and Carrot to bring him back and to copy the Road Poneglyph that Big Mom keeps. They learn the wedding is a trap to murder Sanji's family and seize their technology, so they team up with Capone Bege to assassinate Big Mom at the ceremony; the plan goes wrong, Brook steals a printing of the Poneglyph, and Jimbei, who owed Big Mom a debt, joins the crew but stays behind to hold off her pirates while the others escape. News of the clash and of the Straw Hat Grand Fleet sends Luffy's bounty soaring.
