What happened in it is said to be written on the Rio Poneglyph, a legendary stone that holds the True History of the world. Studying the era is forbidden: the archaeologists of Ohara were researching the Void Century and its Poneglyph when the World Government destroyed the island with a Buster Call 22 years before the start of the story, leaving Nico Robin as the only survivor who can read the stones. On Egghead, Dr. Vegapunk admits that he too has studied the forbidden century.
