How it changed

The 47th Shogakukan Manga Award for shōjo was awarded to this series in 2002.[3] That Drama CD was bundled with a second CD that presented illustrations from the series in a slideshow format.[4] Panini Comics handled partial translations of the series into French and German.[5] The same publisher, Panini Comics, issued the entire series in Italian across 28 volumes.[5]

What the maker and period sources say

The publisher's listing for the first bunkobon volume calls the work a "grand-scale SF masterpiece of love, conspiracy, and revenge."[6] On manga-news.com, the series appears under the title "Princesse Kaguya" and is classified as shojo, with themes including suspense, fantasy, destiny, thriller, and military.[7]
