The Heat became the fourth team to win a championship after trailing 0–2 in the series, following the 1969 Celtics, 1977 Trail Blazers, and 1993 Bulls. Dwyane Wade was named Finals MVP. This was the first Finals since 1971 where both teams had never previously appeared in the Finals, and the first since 1978 where neither team had won an NBA title before.
