Eddie Jones

Edward Charles Jones (born October 20, 1971) is an American former professional basketball player who played for five teams in his 14-year NBA career. He played college basketball for Temple Owls and was the 1993–94 Atlantic 10 Player of the Year. The three-time NBA All-Star was selected 10th overall in the 1994 NBA draft by the Los Angeles Lakers.

Lore & Background

Jones played for the Miami Heat from 2000 to 2005. He was acquired in a sign-and-trade from the Charlotte Hornets along with Anthony Mason and Dale Ellis for Jamal Mashburn, P. J. Brown, Tim James, and Otis Thorpe. However, the trade was part of a larger three-team deal on August 1, 2000, that also involved the Los Angeles Lakers, who received Glen Rice, J.R. Rider, and a draft pick. During his Heat tenure, he led the team in scoring multiple seasons and helped Miami reach the Eastern Conference Finals in 2005, where they lost to the Detroit Pistons in seven games. Despite being a three-time All-Star overall, Jones was never selected as an All-Star while with the Heat; his All-Star appearances came with the Lakers (1997, 1998) and the Hornets (2000).
