It was first mentioned in The Avengers #66 (1969) as part of Ultron's outer shell. Besides Wolverine, it is used in Bullseye's skeleton, Lady Deathstrike's skeleton and talons, Cyber's skin and claws and X-23's claws. The name comes from the word adamant, long used for something of impenetrable, diamond-like hardness.
