The chest-mounted power source of Tony Stark's Iron Man armor.
The arc reactor is the high-yield power source mounted in Tony Stark's chest that powers both his Iron Man armor and his own body. The armor is a powered exoskeleton that Stark builds and wears as Iron Man; the first was built in-story by Stark and Ho Yinsen.

Reader's Guide
In one version of the armor, the suit can repair itself and is almost invulnerable for as long as the power output of the arc reactor is not interrupted. Its repulsor rays, placed around the knuckles, chest, back, legs and palms, also act as cameras that give Stark a 360-degree view.
