Reader's Guide
Timely Comics replaced the triangular shield after the rival publisher MLJ complained it looked too much like that of its own hero, the Shield. Vibranium, a fictional metal mined only in Wakanda that absorbs, stores and releases kinetic energy, is the material of Captain America's vibranium-steel alloy shield.
