Gasoline Alley

Gasoline Alley is the garage area at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. It is the place where race cars are prepared and serviced, and where drivers and crews work before and during the Indianapolis 500. The name is shared with a comic strip by Frank King first published in 1918, and a 1931–49 radio series based on that strip. At the Speedway, it is a specific, well-known location that has been central to the event for decades.
