Calth
The Ultramar world struck by the Word Bearers' surprise assault.
Calth is an ascendant world of the Ultramar system, home region of the loyalist 13th Legion, the Ultramarines. The novel Know No Fear documents the rebels' surprise assault on it, from its opening covert phases onward.
Lore & Background
The assault is planned and led by the traitor Word Bearers. Unaware of their true allegiance, Roboute Guilliman and his Ultramarines are unprepared for the invasion: total, bloody war with ritualistic undertones and scorched-earth tactics. The burning of Calth recurs later in the series, and the compilation Mark of Calth gathers seven short stories and a novella by different authors.
