The Golden Throne

The mechanism that has sustained the Emperor ever since the Heresy.

The Golden Throne is the mechanism into which the Emperor is installed at the end of the Horus Heresy, paving the way for the next ten thousand years.

Lore & Background

Following the death of Horus and the placing of the Emperor upon the Golden Throne, the Imperium is shattered and the Traitor Legions flee from Terra. In the Warhammer 40,000 setting the Emperor, mortally wounded in battle, lives on in a vegetative state on life support, and his mind still generates the Astronomican, the psychic beacon starships use to navigate the warp.
