Heaven

Golden gates, oblivious angels, and a secret the Exorcists kept from everyone.

It cameos in the 2019 pilot and makes its full debut in "Welcome to Heaven", when Charlie and Vaggie visit for their meeting; Saint Peter keeps its gates, the seraphim Sera and Emily lead it, and from it Adam's Exorcists descend each year for the Extermination.

Background

Heaven's citizens were oblivious to the Exterminations - only Sera and the Exorcists knew - until Adam accidentally revealed them in front of all of Heaven, and no one there could tell Charlie how it is decided whether a soul goes to Heaven or Hell. Lilith, the Queen of Hell, turns out to have been hiding there for seven years. Sir Pentious wakes up in Heaven after his sacrifice, the first sinner to be redeemed, and in season two he and Sera broadcast proof of that to Hell. Other inhabitants include Adam's son Abel, Angel Dust's twin sister Molly, Lute, and the bird-like Speaker of God.

On screen Heaven is a white orb ringed and wreathed in cloud, visible in the Pride Ring's red sky; at the surface it is fields of cloud under bright skies, sealed by a golden gate. The series frames it as a paradise with a hidden dark side rather than a straightforward reward.
