The Extermination
Heaven's annual purge of Hell's sinners - the threat the Hazbin Hotel was built to answer.
The Extermination is the annual purge at the heart of Hazbin Hotel: because Hell is overpopulated, Heaven sends down angels called Exorcists, armed with angelic weapons and led by Adam, to slaughter sinners. Charlie Morningstar's hotel is her attempt at a peaceful alternative - redeeming sinners so they can "check out" to Heaven instead.

Background
The Exterminations target the Pride Ring, the only ring sinners can live in. In "Overture" Adam tells Charlie the next one has been moved up by six months. The seraphim Sera permitted Adam to carry them out and kept them secret from the rest of Heaven until he blurted the truth out in "Welcome to Heaven". Carmilla Carmine killed an Exorcist to protect her daughters and discovered that the angels' own weapons can kill them; she salvages and sells the weapons after each purge. In "The Show Must Go On" the Extermination arrives at the hotel: Alastor is wounded by Adam, Lucifer saves Charlie, Sir Pentious sacrifices himself and is redeemed, and Niffty kills Adam. Afterwards Adam's son Abel is made head of the Exorcists, and in season two Vox threatens Heaven with an extermination of his own before the war ends.
Hellborn demons are spared the purge. The fan wiki records that the Exterminations had run for seven years by the time of the series, and that after Adam's death, Sir Pentious's ascension and Sera's change of heart they were discontinued.
